“Nuclear Energy and Chernobly”

HAVE YOU EVER TASTED THAT POWER?

 

The disaster which has been occured in Kiev far from Ukraine 130 kilometers in “Chernobly Nuclear Power Station” in 26 July 1986 is still remembered as the biggest accident. The whole North hemisphere has been effected by this disaster and exposed to radiation. More over, plants and crops have had to come harm ,.because of this disaster. Turkey and many European Countries have been effected too. This disaster has been embedded in people’s memory and it have made people think against nuclear energy. When the subject of nuclear energy comes to order directly Chernobly reactor disaster comes to minds.

 

Energy is indispensable part of our lives. Nuclear energy is one of the most important energy resources , too. The whole world provide16 percent of its demand for electricity from nuclear energy. Namely, the importance of nuclear energy is never denied.

 

Our project, that we carried out between 21-28 Oct. was occurred both in İstanbul and Sakarya with the participation of delegates from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukrania. with those , communally and environmentally- conscious, participants who were from different socio-culturel and economic set ups , we discussed the topic “Nuklear Energy” with all it’s possitive and negative sides, through the medium of experts objectively. We arranged seminars about “Nuklear Energy” and “Nuklear Energy’s Effects on Enviroment & Health “ , and also trips with the aim to inform people about these matter ,we have had cancer pre-diagnosis test, more over, we mounted recycling buttery boxes sponsored by Municipal Serdivan on some central places. Through these we tried to inform youngster together with the society and also make them aware about this topic. We are so glad that, we manage to provide to transmit the factual information in required way , through demolishing the prejudice.

 

 

By the way of addition actions which were planned we mentioned about European senses , European Union Youth Projects, historical and  cultural  heritage. At the same time thanks to the activities we provided good dialogues among participant groups.

 

This Project was prepared with the extended income  from Europian Commission, within the context of T.C. prime ministry  State Planning Agency,EU Training and youth programmes central presidency ( Turkish National  Agency) Youth Programme (action 3).Provided that, State Planning Agency and Europian Commission would not be blameworthiness from the concepts which herein defined.
